Family Ties

Her being stirred on the sheets

To find a blade digging deep

Past her skin and flesh

Embedded in her chest

While disembodied screams caught in the breeze

Of arguments coming to blows

Of children crying, forgotten

Of households crumbling to dust and decay,

And the ropes holding them together coming apart

Fraying to threads

By the anger chewing away at their familial ties
